Previously I’ve written a step by step guide for setting the Firefox up for Bangla unicode fonts. That was for Firefox 2. But that guide can also handle Firefox 3 (some of my reader have already done that and I myself also). So if you are using Firefox 3 and can’t see Bangla fonts then click here.

Another common problem is, many users are seeing the Bangla title in the tabs too small too read clearly. This can be fixed if you use Solaiman Lipi as your default Bangla unicode fonts. Click here to download Solaiman Lipi fonts. If the problem still exists then go to Vrinda Hacking; download the Vrinda font from there and put it in your Windows’ Font folder replacing the older one. It should make your Bangla look better. (I myself didn’t try with the Vrinda font, because I got the better look with the Solaiman Lipi font.)

If you are a Facebook member, you should know that in Facebook there is a scope of creating a network of college or university alumni. If you are an IUTian then you’ll sure want our own network in Facebook too. Imagine your profile in Facebook is showing that you are a member of IUT; isn’t that cool! In that case we all have to work in a body. So what’s our duty? Well it is simple… just send a request to a specific URL and for that you have to have a Facebook account.

Here is the whole procedure:

1. Sign in your Facebook account.
2. Go to the following URL (you can also copy and paste the URL to your browsers’ address bar). http://www.facebook.com/help/add_network.php?ntype=college
3. Type Islamic University of Technology, Dhaka in the Name of college/university text field.
4. Type your email in the form of xxxx@iut-dhaka.edu where xxxx is your IUTs’ email account. (In case you forget it, then just type your student ID there) Then submit it.
5. Then please inform other IUTians by emails or blogs or forum or any other media.

Previously I had two websites; one is personal and another one is official. As I am a faculty of AUST, I used the second one to interact with my students. Those two sites were created with the built in templates and features of Google Pages. Those sites surely have some limitations, as Google Pages doesn’t allow to edit their templates. So those two never got a chance to have professional looks. Rather they looks like some novices’ creation. I was very much inclined to update them so that they looks professional and cool.

I’ve just developed my personal site. And hosted them with a nick of MAQTANIM. Well…  who know me in web world they already knew that MAQTANIM is my only favorite nick. Many were surprised why did not I published my earlier websites with the nick MAQTANIM. I used to tell them that those sites were in experimental mode; when I would get time I would publish my own personal site with that famous nick. And I did it! And I also developed another site which will work as a portal between all my sites in web. Because I find it really fascinating to have a gateway for all of my creation. So anyone through only one site can reach me. So here is my new web portal MAQweb. You’ll find all of my sites name (including the oldies) in the right navigation panel. I couldn’t deducted the oldies as they inspired me to express myself in the world wide web. You’ll find them also in the navigation panel. Just remember one site and get in touch of all of my sites!

Sachalayatan, one of the prominent and popular Bangla blogging platform is being suddenly halted in Bangnladesh. The authority have assured that there is no technical problem in their server. More over it can’t be access from Bangladesh only. Users from other countries can easily access this site. So two facts can be happened for this occurrence: either it has been banned or BTCL has some technical problem.

But majority bloggers in blogosphere are believing the first possibility, that is it has been banned. But why? Well… the most appreciating answer is after the hostile behavior of the liberation war criminals of Bangladesh with our freedom fighters, Sachalayatan has protested that incident by taking the side of the freedom fighters. And to majority of people of Bangladesh believe that the hatred razakars (iberation war criminals) have enough political powers to ban thi site. It seems that my appearance in this blog becomes weekly. Actually I am spending very busy days right now. That’s why I seldom get the chance to write in my blog here. I hope within a short time I’ll be regular again.

The heading of this post sounds little bit stupid, isn’t it? A rainy day in the rainy season - what a nonsense! It rains in rainy season - we all know that. Well I didn’t mean that. for the last several years I didn’t find it raining that much which is usual in rainy season. Those years it rained hardly, most of the ays were dry and shiny. So when I found that this year the rainy season appears in its’ actual image, I found it very emotional. It reminds me my childhood days.

I was brought up in a colony life in Chittagong. In the rainy season, the whole colony was submerged if heavy rainfall occurred. Then we at that time spending our time by floating paper boats on the water. Sometimes we used to play football on that water. That was an unforgettable experience, we were kicking the football which was floating on the water and one couldn’t make the actual kick out of the ball. What a life was that. And sometimes we just jiggled in the water for nothing! I missed those days…

And I enjoy this season. One of the main reason for that is I was born in this season, actually the first day of this season in Bangla calendar. That makes the date 1st day of the Bangla month Aashar. 1st of Aashar, my birthday.
